The Department of Psychology in Mercer University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences invites applications for a Lecturer position to start August of 2023. We are seeking someone who can teach in the area of Biopsychology/Neuroscience, broadly defined. This may include courses in Biopsychology, Drugs and Behavior, Sensation and Perception, Learning, and/or Cognitive Psychology. The ability to teach other generalist courses (e.g., Introduction to Psychology, Research Methods & Statistics,) is needed. As the second-largest major in the College, we are seeking a colleague with demonstrated excellence in teaching and a commitment to serving a diverse student population.

Teaching loads are determined per contractual agreement but the standard teaching load for lecturers is 27 semester hours per academic year at the undergraduate-level, which translates as 4-5 courses per semester with usually no more than three preps. In cases where advising or other administrative duties are contractually assigned, a corresponding reduction in teaching load is offered. Responsibilities include teaching and departmental service; lecturer appointments do not carry expectations of scholarship.

A Master’s degree from an accredited college/university in Biopsychology, Neuroscience, or a related field with demonstrated connections to Biopsychology is required. Candidates with a Ph.D. and/or prior teaching experience are preferred.
