The Music Office Assistant supports the needs of the Townsend School of Music Associate Dean, the Executive Assistant to the Dean, and the Directors of the Undergraduate and Graduate programs, working under direct supervision of the Executive Assistant and in direct supervision of the Dean. Day-to-day operations include greeting and assisting students, faculty and visitors; scheduling; marketing; and daily office operations for the School.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED and must be able to use Microsoft Word/Excel/Office Suite. Candidates with a bachelor's degree and/or prior clerical experience are highly desirable. 

  • Strong communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Abilities to set priorities, organize and coordinate an office operation, anticipate needs, work on multiple tasks under deadline pressures, and exercise good judgment, particularly with sensitive or confidential matters
  • Ability to work unsupervised
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deal effectively with diverse groups and individuals at various levels within the organization.
  • Ability to prepare and present written and oral information articulately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong self-motivational skills for independently initiating working relationships with a wide variety of people.
  • High proficiency in computer applications including Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and accessing information via the World Wide Web. Working knowledge of database systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of computer operating systems, database systems, software, email and internet access.
