Responsibilities

The Pulmonary Function Technologist (PFT) will perform a variety of technical tasks in the PFT lab including conducting multiple types of pulmonary function exams, patient monitoring and performs data analysis with the supervision of the provider. The PFT must effectively communicate and work with patients to obtain appropriate responses to derive meaningful cardiopulmonary data. The PFT must provide the physician with the required data for proper interpretation. The PFT must establish and maintain an effective working relationship and good customer service skills and perform all other duties assigned within the scope of their practice.

Required Qualifications

A certification/licensure in a related healthcare field (Nursing, CMA, LPN, etc.) and at least six months of PFT experience are required.  Candidates with a Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist certification (CPFT) are preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Interpersonal skills for communication with patients, families and other medical professionals
  • Knowledge of supply inventory and ordering for pulmonary function lab
  • Knowledge and experience in pulmonary function testing
