The Coordinator of Alumni Programs will work independently to maintain and engage with our Mercer Alumni Chapters around the country, manage all aspects of the Mercer Ambassadors (student-alumni liaison program), plan and execute our annual Reunion Zero picnic, manage our multiple social media accounts, plan and promote various alumni networking opportunities, and be an integral part of the alumni team that plans and executes various events such as Mercer Mingles and annual Homecoming weekend.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and two years of professional experience in program coordination and event-planning are required. Candidate must have be able to effectively communicate with large groups of constituents. Must have social media expertise and be willing to post publicly on behalf of the University.

Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the university's carrier as this position requires some travel.

  • Knows how to use Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Zoom, One Drive, Google Docs and has the propensity to learn new applications as necessary.
  • Knows how to compose business correspondence using Microsoft Word
  • Knows how to create and use lists/spreadsheets in Microsoft Excel
  • Knows how to use Outlook for emailing, calendaring, filing contact info, etc.
  • Is able to travel to attend alumni events or meetings, or to make deliveries.
  • Is able to work with a group, or to work alone, as the task dictates.
  • Is able to use a cell phone to retrieve emails and texts (will be expected to use own phone and will be reimbursed a set amount each month)
  • Knows how to form productive relationships and work within the various departments and hierarchies of a large organization.
  • Has general knowledge of how boards of directors function.
  • Is comfortable in large groups of people
  • Has a professional appearance and knowledge of appropriate business attire
  • Has maturity, enthusiasm, energy and an approachable personality
