Under the general supervision of the Director of Student Loans and University Bursar, the Associate Director of Student Loan, Default Prevention independently administers borrower delinquency and default prevention/management program for the university. The Prevention Manager will be responsible for the efficient delivery of all student loan default prevent outreach efforts by providing critical and direct oversight. This position will manage the following: default prevention workshops; entrance and exit counseling; Provides quality customer service to all students and their families. Responsible for the implementation of default prevention initiatives including working with students to prevent student loan delinquency and default, discussing comprehensive repayment options, and increasing financial awareness and wellness. Independently manages Financial Literacy program to assist delinquent Federal Loan borrowers with a special emphasis on Cohort Default.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and three years experience in student services programs, which should include working with federal title IV aid programs and collections, are required. Candidates with prior experience in student loan default management within federal and state student financial aid programs including knowledge of U.S. Department of Education rules and regulations and/or knowledge and understanding of cohort default rate management and student loan repayment options are highly desirable.

  • Strong Organizational, accounting, and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of applicable financial aid federal and state statutes and regulations governing assistance programs
  • Strong computer and technology skills and knowledge of financial aid software applications
  • Ability to identify challenges and implement solutions
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Title IV program fund regulations
