Responsibilities

The Registrar is responsible for the management of student academic records and registration for the law school, including maintenance of student records, degree audits, graduation certification, State Bar certification, commencement (including program and diplomas), publication of class schedules and course information, implementation of enrollment and policies, transcript and grade processing (including assuring that a faculty’s grades are within mandatory averages for each class level), overseeing blind grading process, conducting registration meetings, ensuring that the law school complies with the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, and serves as a member of the technology committee, and ex-officio member of the faculty curriculum committee and accreditation committee.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and five years of prior registrar or records management experience in higher education to include supervisory experience are required. Candidates with a master's degree and/or advanced skills in using CVUE student information system are highly desirable.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to function in a multi-tasked environment with great attention to detail.
  • Skilled in the use of Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (consistently is required to communicate with the student body, law school community, adjunct professors, alumni and outside organizations).
  • Must have strong people skills (often the front-line person who deals with students in crises).
  • Proficient in the rules and regulations of the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act to protect the Law School and University from litigation and to ensure the confidentially of student records.
  • Assertive (most times the registrar is the “enforcer” of rules and policies with both students and faculty)
  • Attention to detail.
  • Must have the ability and initiative to work independently – the job has little oversight from the dean’s office (usually only when there is a special problem or unusual situation).
