Responsibilities

Under the indirect supervision of the Associate Law Librarian for Collections and Technical Services, manages monographic order processing; receives and checks-in standing orders; manages copy cataloging and database maintenance operations; manages and maintains the Federal Depository Library collection; maintains faculty filing and electronic subscriptions, process library mail, and supervises student assistants.

Required Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED and five years of prior relevant experience with at least one of those years being directly relevant library experience and the rest being customer service and/or administrative support experience. In lieu of experience, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered where at least one of those years is directly relevant library experience with the rest being customer service and/or administrative support experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to use an integrated library system to process, check in, maintain, and route government documents and daily and weekly serials
  • Proficient with computer applications to access various resources, email or web to enhance records in the library’s online system
  • Highly accurate keyboarding skills to check in materials in the library’s online system
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word to prepare documents and reports for GPO and bindery list
  • Ability to organize and prioritize tasks to maintain accessibility and availability of library material
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills to accurately resolve problems or inaccuracies from vendors and publishers
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with patrons, vendors, and colleagues in person, electronically, and via the telephone to provide quality service and to foster dependability and harmony
  • Ability to lift books, packages and boxes weighing 20-50 pounds to deliver goods to designated areas with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Capable of supervising student assistants and exhibiting professional work habits to intentionally train students for current and future employment
