Responsibilities

This position is the coordinator of patient accounts as assigned by the Billing Manager to include the collections process, counseling patients on balances, posting payments, processing deposits and refunds, as well as generating past due letters. The A/R Coordinator acts as the liaison between Mercer Medicine and assigned collection agencies to ensure accurate, detailed information on accounts being turned over. The Coordinator will also work A/R ledgers to counsel patients and enhance revenue flow of Mercer Medicine.

Required Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED and one year of accounts receivable experience to include data entry and cash handling are required, preferably in a medical office. Candidates with accounts receivable experience in a medical office, EHR/PM software experience, and/or CPT coding knowledge are highly desirable.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Candidates must have:

  • Working knowledge Microsoft Office (preferably basic Excel);
  • Good written and verbal communication skills via phone, email, mail, etc;
  • Knowledge of third-party reimbursement procedures.
