The Audio Visual Technician is responsible for the support of audio visual technical services for Mercer University’s faculty, staff, students, and administrators, including events, audio-visual equipment, and classroom facility operations. Additional responsibilities include the setup of technical services in a classroom environment and inventory of equipment. Assists with video presentations utilizing electronic production capabilities and necessary software. Proactively learns new equipment and services that can be incorporated into the academic environment.

A high school diploma or GED, along with some prior audio visual and information systems / technology coursework are required. Additionally candidates should have at least two years customer service experience that must include one year audio visual setup/support and basic computer support.

• Customer service experience
• Good interpersonal skills to ensure effective working relationships with customers and co-workers
• Experience and skill in the support of Audio Visual equipment and associated software
• Basic understanding of computer hardware / software. Ability to troubleshoot basic computer and software problems as they are related to Audio Visual needs
• Ability to use ticketing and reservation system software to perform required tasks
• Proven analytical and mechanical skills to aid in effective and efficient problem resolution
• Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs., ability to crouch in tight places and ability to climb ladder and stairs with or without reasonable accommodation.
