The Department of Computer Science in Mercer University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is accepting applications for a visiting Cybersecurity faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. This is a one-year visiting appointment with the possibility of renewal. The appointment will be effective August 1, 2022.

Applicants should have a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in cybersecurity, computer science, and information technology.

Active research that includes undergraduate students and curricular initiatives that support innovation and problem solving in areas such as secure software development, virtualization and cloud computing, automation and orchestration, cybersecurity governance, and cyber analytics, are preferred. 

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. from an accredited institution in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, computer engineering, or in a closely related area. Applicants with ABD will be considered for the interview process provided there is evidence that all degree requirements will be completed by time of appointment. Applicants must have a demonstrated academic and/or professional background in cybersecurity.

The Computer Science Department, situated in the College of Liberal Arts and Science, offers the BS degrees in computer science, computational science, cybersecurity, and information science and technology. BA degrees are offered in computer science, cybersecurity, and information science and technology. The BS degree program in computer science is accredited by ABET. The Department also offers coursework in support of the Computer Engineering major that is offered through the School of Engineering, and coursework for Business majors in the School of Business
