Responsibilities

Globally, the Associate Registrar for Operations is responsible for all technical aspects of the Office of the Registrar.  The candidate must have expert knowledge in all aspects of the student information system (SIS).  Is responsible for training and troubleshooting Registrar staff in all areas of their functional responsibilities. Provides support and advises all Registrar staff on all campuses on the efficient use of the SIS.  Performs regression testing on SIS student and faculty portal upgrades. Efficiently communicates with all Mercer partners and outside entities as it relates to the SIS and all stakeholders. Troubleshoots and provides tier 1 technical support for system issues involving academic record functions in cooperation with all University units. Configures the student information system as it relates to registration and all of its other areas. Works with Assistant Registrar for Enrollment Reporting to generate and transmit data to the National Student Clearinghouse, which feeds to NSLDS. Provides university-wide preparation of a variety of standard and on-demand student record reports, statistical data, lists, and labels. Sends communications to students and faculty throughout the academic year. Manages the implementation of all 3rd party software. Maintains the Macon and Regional Academic Center Campuses departmental web pages. Actively seeks solutions to all technical matters related to the Office of the Registrar. Much of the work of this position is done independently or with limited supervision.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in computer science from an accredited college/university is required along with three years of related experience working with computer applications software, to include working with hardware and customer service experience.  Candidates with a master's degree are highly desirable. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to work effectively with computer-based information systems and possess the skills needed to fully utilize an integrated student record system.
  • Ability to extract and manipulate data from the student record system and prepare statistical reports as required by the office and customers on campus through the effective use of computer software, e.g., Access, SQL.
  • Ability to maintain and enhance a departmental web page that will keep the office technologically on the forefront and provide required information to students/faculty and staff.
  • Ability to skillfully interact with non-technical users in order to correctly determine their requests for service.
