Coordinating with the director of graduate admissions, the position supports the graduate programs of the College with inquiry and applicant communication; entry, retrieval , and sharing of data associated with admissions materials required for applicant evaluation and acceptance. The position serves the chairs of all Atlanta-based departments in the College with procurement of supplies and resources necessary for program delivery. The position serves the chair of the counseling department with student registration, preparation of materials necessary for new student orientations. The individual in this position attends counseling student orientations to assist with reception and implementation. The position serves the Atlanta-based graduate chairs and program coordinators by scheduling and organizing applicant interviews. 

Required Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED and one year of prior administrative support experience, to include working with databases, are required. Candidates must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The academic support assistant needs excellent data presentation/technology skills, ability to work independently with periodic supervision, good project prioritization skills, good communication skills with ability to liaison with a variety of faculty, college and university leaders, students, and representatives of other academic and operational support units at the University.

  • Ability to use the University's student information system (Nexus) to retrieve information as needed for tasks, reports, and/or to assist faculty and students.
  • Ability to use the College's assessment system to retrieve program assessment information to assist program coordinators to assess their programs each year.
  • Ability to use Watermark for faculty success data collection to assist department chairs in evaluating the department faculty annually.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills while performing job functions daily and to foster working relationships with faculty (adjunct and fulltime), students, enrollment management, physical plant, and other departments across the University.
  • Ability to use Slate admission software for entering admission data and monitoring admission status of applicants.
  • Ability to use work productivity software such as Microsoft Word and Excel for drafting correspondence and creating reports.
  • Excellent organizational skills with emphasis on attention to detail and an excellent attendance record associated with a high work ethic.

Pay Rate

Base: $13.26 an hour up to commensurate with experience
