Responsibilities

The overall purpose of this position is to provide academic support to the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences. This includes various job functions to meet the needs of faculty and current graduate students, as well as an active role in interacting with applicants to the graduate program. The position also provides administrative and secretarial support to the Department Chair. The incumbent reports directly to the Department Chair and is responsible for maintaining a professional work environment and providing support for the overall mission of the Department and College.

Required Qualifications

Two years of college coursework and two years of administrative support experience are required. An equivalent combination of education and experience (four years) will also be considered. Candidates with a bachelor's degree are preferred.

The successful candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Additionally, candidate must have:

  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to learn new software if not already proficient, e.g. Canvas Learning Management System
  • Excellent grammar and punctuation
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all work
  • Ability to accurately enter requisitions and keep track of purchase orders sent to vendors and receipt of orders and code expenses to appropriate general ledger accounts in CampusVue
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills; ability to self-direct and take initiative; and the ability to solve problems within scope of position are all necessary requirements to succeed in this position
