Responsibilities The Assistant Director of Athletic Media Relations serves as the primary media contact for sports at Mercer University as assigned by the supervisor. The Assistant Director will promote assigned sports through writing, social media, design, editing press releases, game programs, game notes, media guides and other publications as assigned. In addition, the incumbent will communicate story ideas to local, regional, and national media outlets as well as direct or assist the direction of press row and game day media activities at various events. The Assistant Director will work closely with marketing, creative and video departments to utilize social media in promotion of Mercer athletics. The primary sports assignment will include one of the following: football, men's basketball, or women's basketball.
Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree, preferably in Journalism, English, Communications or a closely related field, from an accredited college/university as well as some prior experience in the field of professional or collegiate athletic communications is required. The successful candidate will possess excellent writing skills, and a working knowledge of multiple social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and more. Applicants must have knowledge of NCAA LiveStats and StatCrew software and Adobe Creative Cloud programs. Prior experience working with SideARM Sports is preferred as well as a candidate with advanced graphic design and non-linear editing skills. Prior experience working with lacrosse would also be desirable.
