Responsibilities

The Grants Accountant maintains compliance for financial aspects of the University's grants and contracts. The Grants Accountant manages and processes procurement for externally funded grants and/or contracts following University policies and procedures. This position also reviews procurement justifications. This position will also provide general support to the Grants and Contracts Office and assist with other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university in accounting, business, or a closely related field is required along with two years of accounting experience, which must include preparation of journal entries and monitoring of general ledger account activity.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently without guidance.
  • Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, oral and written communication skills, time management, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite).
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up skills.
  • Strong customer service skills and phone and email etiquette.
