Responsibilities

Mercer University, an NCAA Division I Institution and a member of the Southern Conference is accepting applications for the position of Director of Strength & Conditioning for Olympic Sports.  Primary responsibilities will include the design and implementation of year round strength and conditioning programs for Division I athletics teams, teaching proper technique in various strength, speed, agility, conditioning and explosive movements, testing and evaluating the student-athlete's performance, compliance with all appropriate university, Southern Conference and NCAA Rules and Regulations. The Director of Olympic Sports position will directly oversee, review all communication and athletic performance operations for assigned teams as well as oversee all day-to-day operations at the University Center weight room. The Director of Olympic Sports will adhere to the mission, vision and training methodology set by the Director of Strength and Conditioning.

The object of the position is to enhance the student-athlete's strength, flexibility, endurance, speed, power, and agility. The welfare and safety of the student-athlete should always be a priority. This position will be required to motivate and inspire student-athletes, coaches, and staff to be successful while staying up to date on current trends through continuing education.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in exercise science or related field from an accredited university/college, two years of prior experience working as a strength and conditioning coach with team sports in a collegiate or professional setting, and a current Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC) and/or a current Certified Strength Conditioning Specialists (CSCS) certification are required.  Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with excellent organizational skills. Must be able to work on weekends, mornings, evenings, and some holidays. Some travel may also be required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Must have the ability to lift up to 60 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation.  Knowledge of computers and MS Office software also required.
