Responsibilities

The Electronic Medical Records (EMR) Support Specialist provides hands-on assistance with practices on customization/correction of documentation issues within eClinical Works (eCW). The position provides essential support to all administrative and clinical departments during operating hours - occasional after-hours duties are required. Research/troubleshoot all technical issues within eCW. This position is responsible for communication of all current CMS/Federal standards and guidelines as it relates to providers. This position must maintain knowledge of requirements relating to Meaningful Use, PQRS, HEDIS, MACRA and other quality programs. This position performs these duties with the assistance and oversight of The Director of Clinical and Billing Services. The EMR Support Specialist should be highly proficient with the electronic medical record software or have a strong clinical background and a strong aptitude for computer systems. This role requires a strong working knowledge of Windows-based systems, excellent customer service skills, the ability to train and support providers, nurses, support staff, and clinical administrators. This role also works closely with members of the I.S. Department and I.T. roles supporting the computing infrastructure and desktop computers. Frequent travel to all Mercer Medicine clinics required.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field is required along with three years of relevant IT data analysis and/or support experience, of which at least two years must be in a clinical setting working with electronic medical records software (preferably EClinical Works). In lieu of education, equivalent directly related experience will be considered.

Candidates must have a valid driver's license as this position requires travel to other clinic locations. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

- Thorough knowledge of the principles and components of Electronic Health Records
- Extensive knowledge of all current CMS/Federal standards and guidelines as it relates to providers
- Extensive knowledge of requirements relating to Meaningful Use, PQRS, HEDIS, MACRA and other quality programs
- Mid-range knowledge of EHR software and administrative tasks
- Ability to communicate well and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, University staff, and outside vendors
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Ability to think critically and perform well under pressure
- Exceptional customer service
- Project coordination/execution
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility on the job
- Understands EHR logging and tracking for the purpose of ensuring security and working order of Unixbased and Windows-based server systems
- Must be proficient with eClinicalWorks software and knowledgeable in various forms of communication of electronic health data
