Coordinates clinical research studies conducted by principal investigators(s) at Mercer University. Coordinates and participates in a variety of complex activities involved in the collection, compilation, documentation and analysis of clinical research data. Coordinates and performs study specific regulatory processes across multiple studies of different therapeutic areas and phases, in accordance to appropriate regulations, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and study specific protocols/plans and processes.

Required Qualifications

This position requires graduation from an accredited nursing degree program leading to a license as a Licensed Practical Nurse or licensure as an Registered Nurse, as well as at least one year of clinical nursing experience in a hospital, physician's office, or government clinic. Additionally, candidates must have a current (or be eligible for) Georgia LPN or RN license.  Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.

The successful candidate must have: 

  • Thorough understanding and ability to apply federal regulations regarding research in order to maintain full compliance with applicable regulations, IRB and sponsor requirements.
  • Knowledge of general physiology, pathological conditions and treatment modalities as related to specific disciplines in which research is conducted.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact appropriately and diplomatically with patients, peers, physicians, and other health and research professionals.
  • Meticulous attention to intricate detail and ability to accurately perform multiple, critical tasks.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and “multi-task” on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Electrocardiogram tracing, laboratory procedures, vital assessments experience to perform as required by study protocol.
  • Clinical chart review experience, to recruit patients and determine appropriateness for study inclusion.
  • Ability to advocate for patients while ensuring the integrity of the research study.
  • Ability to refer medical issues to the Principal Investigator in a timely manner.
