Responsibilities

Advancement Services supports the Office of University Advancement's mission to build strong, lifelong relationships with Mercer constituents, match donors' interests with the University's needs and priorities, and secure the financial resources necessary for Mercer to achieve excellence in teaching, research, and scholarship.

We are seeking a Gift Processing and Accounting Specialist who will serve to support our mission and whose main responsibilities will be gift processing, receipt/acknowledgement, batch audit, accounting office reconciliation, and assistance operating the University's main switchboard. The position makes a valued impact by providing a high level of customer service and accuracy, as well as by working efficiently and effectively to meet deadlines.

The Gift Processing and Accounting Specialist, under direct supervision, will be responsible for:
• processing, acknowledging, and receipting gifts to the University
• reviewing and auditing gift transactions for accuracy
• preparing journal (GL) transaction files and month end reconciliation with accounting staff
• reconciling errors, investigating exception items, preparing audited transactions
• maintaining the accuracy of alumni and donor records within the database
• assisting with the operation of the University's main switchboard which is housed in Advancement
• providing a high level of customer service to assist University constituents

Required Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED is required along with two years of administrative support experience to include database entry, accounting/bookkeeping, and customer service support functions. The successful candidate must have knowledge of database/CRM systems; accurate entry and understanding of the inter-relationships of data; and ability to use Microsoft Outlook/Word/Excel with intermediate proficiency. Candidates must possess excellent operation, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. The ability to prioritize and balance day to day work load to meet expected gift processing efficiency metrics and project/task deadlines as assigned is essential.

Base: $12 an hour up to commensurate with experience
