Responsibilities

College of Professional Advancement, Mercer University’s evening, weekend, and online professional studies unit, invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Professor of Human Resources and Coordinator of the Human Resources Administration and Development program for a nine month, non-tenure track renewable position beginning August, 2021.

The position is based at Mercer’s Henry County Regional Academic Center in McDonough, Georgia and housed in the Department of Leadership Studies, which offers undergraduate and graduate programs and concentrations in nonprofit leadership, healthcare leadership, organizational development and change leadership, and criminal justice leadership and additional undergraduate programs in homeland security and human resources administration and training and development. Primary responsibilities include teaching 7- 3 credit hour courses during the academic year; demonstrating intellectual vitality through research, applied scholarship, or the scholarship of teaching and learning; attending departmental, college, and university faculty meetings and events; and working collaboratively with colleagues across academic units of the college and university to ensure outstanding learning environments.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a doctoral degree in a related field (human resources, leadership studies, industrial/organizational theory, industrial/organizational behavior, organizational communication, organizational development and dynamics, information technology or information security organizations) from an accredited university. ABD candidates will be considered for interviews but must have their doctorate degree completed prior to the start of this position. Applicants must have 18 semester hours in human resources, human resources development, training and development, or another human related field. Preference will be given to applicants who provide evidence of exemplary teaching, who have experience teaching and advising adult learners, and/or who have experience in or enthusiasm for teaching in online and blended formats. In addition to the human resources requirement, preference will be given to candidates with academic credentials or experience in one of the following areas: industrial/organizational theory, industrial/organizational behavior, organizational communication, organizational development and dynamics, information technology or information security organizations.
