The Mercer University School of Medicine (MUSM) Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences seeks a Program Director to lead its Master of Family Therapy (MFT) Program.  MUSM provides training in the biopsychosocial/spiritual model and a family systems perspective for physicians and other health care providers.   The MFT program is a deeply rooted, integral part of MUSM, for the past thirty-six years training both MFT and medical students to fulfill the schools’ mission of preparing healthcare professionals to meet the primary care and health care needs of rural and medically underserved areas of Georgia.

This is a 12 month position that reports to the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences.  The department faculty is multi-disciplinary and provides a positive, supportive, and collegial atmosphere.   The department also interfaces with other clinical departments and the basic science faculty of the medical school.

The Program Director will work with administration, faculty, and students to continue to develop the MFT program on its campuses in Macon and Atlanta. The Macon program is located in the heart of downtown near Atrium Health Navicent, a Level I Trauma Center serving 28 counties in middle Georgia. The Atlanta program is located just inside the Atlanta Perimeter on the Cecil B. Day Graduate and Professional Campus of Mercer University. Students on the Atlanta campus benefit from many of the same amenities as those in Macon, such as on-campus housing and a wellness and recreation center.

The Program Director must have an energetic leadership style with the ability to engage outstanding faculty and students and to represent the program to the University and professional community. Duties will include administration of the program; hiring and supervision of faculty; recruiting students; teaching; supervising students; and engaging in scholarly activity.
