Responsibilities

Demonstrates proficiency in multiple software languages and operating systems.

Prepares, reviews, and analyzes software specifications for complex applications and systems.

Conducts and performs basic and fundamental research on programs by applying advanced research and software engineering techniques.

Assists with the formulation of research and development objectives, programs, and development of plans.

Applies working knowledge of RISC processors (PowerPC…) and associated interfaces to software system solutions.

Analyzes algorithms and requirements for computational resources and hardware architecture required.

Undertakes theoretical analyses and experimental investigation and formulates basic methods of study for solution of problems.

Works with hardware and systems engineers to establish hardware requirements.

Prepares, reviews, and analyzes software specifications for software systems.

Participates in program design reviews with customer.

Complies with all Executive Director approved MERC-wide policies and procedures.

Adheres to approved MERC CMMI quality management policies and principles, and promotes an attitude of commitment to continuous quality improvement.

Ensures familiarity with all MERC core capabilities and with current and potential customer base.

During all customer contacts, remains alert for any potential problems or opportunities that could possibly lead to additional business for any MERC core capability area.

Reports all perceived or identified MERC business opportunities to the Director of Acquisition Strategy through a Chief Engineer.

Required Qualifications

US Citizenship is required.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.

A Ph.D. in Software Engineering or a related area (e.g. Computer Science, Information Technologies, Data Processing, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics) from an accredited college or university; or a Master’s degree in same and 1 year of directly related experience; or an undergraduate degree in same and 2 years of directly related experience.

Additional requirements may be added as appropriate and as specified in the specific Personnel Requisition Form.

Preferred Qualifications

Five (5) years of web application development experience utilizing ASP .NET or MVC, Java Script, and CSS.

Experience creating tables, queries, and stored procedures in SQL Server or Oracle databases.

Three (3) or more years programming experience with C#.

Ability to work independently.
