Responsibilities

The Mercer University Tift College of Education is seeking a Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor of Educational Leadership. This is one-year visiting appointment with the possibility of extension.  Reporting to the Chair for Atlanta Teacher Education and Educational Leadership, the Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor of Educational Leadership will be housed on the University’s Atlanta Campus and be responsible for teaching courses and guiding the research of Ph.D. students in Educational Leadership. The position is a 9-month assignment set to begin August 1, 2020, but summer employment opportunities are available starting as early as May 1, 2020.

Responsibilities for the Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor of Educational Leadership will be primarily in the Higher Education track of the Ph.D. in Educational Leadership program, including teaching courses and serving on dissertation committees. Responsibilities will also include teaching courses in the MEd in Higher Education program, the MEd in P-12 Educational Leadership program or one of the College’s teacher education programs, and occasionally teaching at one the University’s Regional Academic Centers or on the Macon campus. Additionally, it is expected that the Visiting Assistant/Associate Professor of Educational Leadership will participate in activities of programmatic development, effective instruction and student advisement on the Atlanta campus and online, professional development linked to instructional quality and student success, and service to the College and University. The successful candidate will be a community role model who will foster an environment of professionalism and collaboration with colleagues.

Qualifications

 Required Qualifications:

• Earned doctorate in higher education leadership or a closely related field of Education from an accredited college or university
• Successful experience serving as chairperson or member of a doctoral dissertation committee
• Understanding of quantitative and qualitative research methods
• Superior interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills
• Ability to use technology in synchronous and asynchronous instruction
• Ability to support a culture of collaboration, inclusion and diversity

Preferred Qualifications:

• Strong evidence of scholarly productivity in higher education leadership or a related area
• Ability to teach graduate level courses in P-12 Educational Leadership or areas of teacher education

Background Check

Selection of the final candidate is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check.

Pay Rate

Commensurate with experience
