Responsibilities

The purpose of the Associate Bursar is to ensure compliance with all Title IV regulations governing the functions of Bursar Office. Responsible for supervision and mentoring of Assistant Bursar and Account Specialist ensuring that office maintains compliance with cash management regulations and R2T4 Federal Regulations, processing all term withdrawals for all campuses, ensure timely return of Title IV funds, and manage refunds and stipends for Macon, Regional Academic Center, Law, and School of Medicine students. This position serves as liaison between the Bursar Office and the I.T. Department in order to troubleshoot and report integration problems, correcting student accounts when required. Review and post pending tuition, lab fees, housing, and meal plan charges, requires an ability to understand the various billing methods and multiple tuition schedules, ascertaining prior to posting that all charges are true and accurate. Keep University Bursar apprised of changes in regulations, and under their direction, work with other members of the Bursar Management Team to revise current procedures to meet these changes. Position assists students and staff via emails, phone inquiries, and walk-in traffic. Responsible for supervising the Bursar Operations staff and may work on special projects as assigned by the Associate Bursar of Operations and the University Bursar.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university and three years of experience are required, which should include: (1) Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills and the ability to work with representatives from public and private entities and handle potentially sensitive situations; (2) Management, supervision, and extensive job-related experience involving hiring, managing, directing, and motivating staff; (3) Comprehensive knowledge of financial record-keeping, procedures, and practices, including Title IV; Ability to interpret a wide range of written rules and regulations; Thorough knowledge and understanding of student financial operations in higher education environment; (4) Effective written and oral interpersonal and communication skills, knowledge of business management principles, methods, and procedures; and (5) Accounts receivable experience.
