Responsibilities

MERC has an immediate opening in the Software Product Area for a Staff Software Engineer with a background in Software Quality Assurance, manual and automated testing, and working with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

The team member hired for this position will review and analyze application requirements; design and maintain test cases; perform all levels of manual and automated testing, including functional, integration, performance, regression, and usability tests; document and track test results; and collaborate with development teams to report, analyze, and resolve software issues discovered.

Required Qualifications

U.S. Citizenship is required.

Successful candidates must be capable of obtaining a DoD security clearance.

Experience in information technology systems’ software maintenance and networking.

Excellent verbal and written communication.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be able to investigate an issue, isolate its probable cause, and provide a reliable method for reproducing the issue. Attention to detail is critical.

Must be self-motivated with the ability to work both independently, and as part of a team.

Requires an undergraduate degree in Software Engineering or a related area (e.g. Computer Science, Information Technologies, Data Processing, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics) from an accredited college or university; or an Associate degree in same and 2 years directly related experience; or no degree and 6 years directly related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

1-3 years of software development or testing experience.

Experience with Agile and Scrum software development and testing principles.

Proficiency with computer software languages such as C#, JavaScript, and Python.

Experience with Test Automation tools such as Selenium or JUnit, scripting languages, and Test Management tools (TFS).
