Responsibilities |
The goal of research projects led by the principal investigator (PI), Dr. Sarah Rotschafer, is to understand the causes of abnormal auditory processing in fragile X syndrome. The incumbent will provide research support to projects led by the PI; apply research skills and laboratory knowledge to follow or adapt protocols and techniques to accomplish the requirements of the research; design and implement research protocols with the PI.

Required Qualifications |
The Research Assistant I position requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or a related field from an accredited college/university and some research experience. The Research Assistant II position requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or a related field from an accredited college/university and a minimum of one year of related research experience. The Research Assistant III position requires a bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences or a related field and three years of related research experience of which some of that time must be in a lead role or a related master's degree from an accredited college/university and one year of relevant research experience of which some of that time must be in a lead role.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities |
- Ability to learn and perform immunolabeling, fluorescence microscopy, confocal microscopy, cryosectioning, and tissue preparation.
- Ability to learn and perform animal experiments including injections, terminal surgery, and organ processing, etc.
- Ability to analyze experimental data and formulate initial conclusions.
