Responsibilities |
To tutor and coach students in test preparation skills; help prepare them for the college admissions and college transition process; and work with other staff members, outreach representatives and high school and college personnel to develop a college-bound culture in the program’s target sites. College Readiness Tutors will serve as student advocates, motivational speakers and coaches in order to help low-income and potential first generation college students achieve their potential.

Required Qualifications |
A high school diploma or GED and two years of experience as a tutor or workshop facilitator are required. In lieu of experience, equivalent combination of education and directly related experience will be considered. Candidates must have the ability to work with economically and educationally disadvantaged clients. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree in a field that will lend expertise to the position and experience in working with high school students, non-traditional students and low-income and potential first generation individuals are desirable.
The successful candidate must have the:
- Ability to tutor participants in specific academic subjects
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally – To explain program services to participants and community agencies and to conduct workshops on academic related subjects.
- Ability to identify participants and provide project services according to federal regulations
Ability to use various computer software applications-to track participant services
- Ability to write correspondence and develop flyers, etc. concerning program services to participants and partnering agencies.

Base: $9.55 an hour up to commensurate with experience
