Under the supervision of the Director of Operations and Event Management, The Assistant Director of Event Management will coordinate all game and practice setup for assigned teams and outside events. The primary sports this position will have responsibility for are soccer, baseball, tennis, and softball. Responsibilities of this position will include, but are not limited to independent staffing, coverage, and breakdown of facilities for each home event. He/she will be responsible for coordinating outside rentals, community activities and provide oversight for other university events held in athletic facilities. This includes recruiting and hiring numerous temporary employees to cover various duties at each sporting event, while working closely with Human Resources to make sure that all proper procedures are handled. He/she will work closely with on-campus departments (i.e. Mercer Police, Physical Plant, Concessions, Special Event Catering, and Risk Management) and contracted services (Health Services provider and communications vendor) to ensure appropriate support services for all assigned events. Employee will also assist in the upkeep of equipment and maintenance of facilities. This position will also be responsible for assisting the Director of Operations and Event Management in the hiring and training of student workers needed in facility operations. Duties will include maintaining a calendar with all scheduled events in athletic facilities. This position will also be responsible for assisting the Director of Operations and Event Management with other events as well as day-to-day tasks.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university is required along with one year of experience within a collegiate, professional or minor league athletics department, which must include some event planning.  The successful candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively with coaches, student-athletes, and administration; knowledge of scheduling, organizing and implementing activities in athletic facilities; the ability to manage and supervise others; and the ability to work well with others, as well as independently.

Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the University's carrier as this position does require driving on behalf of the University.
