Responsibilities

-Assists Employee Services Manager with a wide range of job functions related to human resources including travel, recruitment, facilities and training. 

-Acts as a backup during the absence of the Employee Services Manager.

-Maintains accurate, up to date human resource files, records and documentation.

-Answers frequently asked questions from applicants and employees relative to standard policies, benefits, hiring processes and refers questions to Employee Services Manager as directed. 

-Maintains the HRIS systems and MIS systems. 

-Processes all Travel Authorizations and makes associated reservations; and submits travel for appropriate government and internal approvals.

-Initiates and conducts new hire orientation.

-Maintains databases, reports, manuals and spreadsheets. 

-Substantial use of verbal and written communications in support of primary job functions. 

-Acts as Training Coordinator.

-Executes all other duties and responsibilities as directed in a timely and accurate manner.

-Complies with all Executive Director approved MERC wide policies and procedures. 

Required Qualifications

-US citizenship required.

-Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

-An undergraduate degree in HR, Business or similar field from an accredited college or university with directly related HR experience, or 3-5 years of progressive administrative and HR experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.

-Working knowledge of HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite is required. 

-Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills, have demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, experience exercising independent judgement in handling difficult and sensitive issues and the ability to project professionalism reflective of a highly visible administrative office. 

-Good use of English language and good writing skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of HR regulations and compliance.  Experience with WorkDay software is preferred.
