Responsibilities

The Echocardiography/Vascular Technician shall be able to perform all aspects of cardiac ultrasound procedures according to guidelines established by the cardiologist without direct physician supervision. Interpret preliminary results of echocardiograms and communicating abnormal results that require urgent or emergent physician intervention to the cardiologist.

Required Qualifications

Associate's degree in Applied Science in Echocardiography and Vascular registry are required. Certification as a Registered Cardiac Sonographer must be obtained with the first six months of employment.  Must be familiar with current standard echocardiography/vascular equipment and techniques and have thorough knowledge and understanding of normal/abnormal cardiac anatomy and pathophysiology. Understanding of medical coding of ICD-9 and CPT coding guidelines is also required.
