Responsibilities

- Fabricates mechanical, electrical, or electronic parts or tools from engineering drawings.

- Performs diagnostic tests of mechanical, electrical, or electronic parts or assemblies in conjunction with engineering.

- Performs mechanical, electrical, or electronic functional assessments and makes recommendations to engineers.

- Assembles, disassembles, repairs, and maintains mechanical, electrical, or electronic systems or subsystems.

- Setup and operate mills, lathes, drill press, and other manual equipment.

- Setup, adjust, and operate CNC to perform close tolerance turning, milling, and deburring operations.

- Proof and edit programs and manually program machining instructions into a computer.

- Reviews blueprint for machining to be done and plans sequence of operations.

- Performs other job-related duties in related areas as assigned. 

 

Required Qualifications

- U.S. Citizenship is required.

- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance.

- High School Diploma or GED.

- CNC operator experience including programming, setup, operation, and part QA.

- Will comply with all quality and safety standards and rules.

- Completes work on time and under budget.

- Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and proficiency at reading precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators.

- Must have knowledge or cutting tools and inserts for turning, drilling, boring, threading, and milling.

- Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specification, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpiece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.

- Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines.

- Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.

- Verifies conformance of finished workpiece to specifications using precision measuring instruments.

- Must be able to maintain tolerance and finishes to engineering and manufacturing specifications. 

Preferred Qualifications

- Ability to obtain a University Approved Driver Card.

- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and programs tool path, depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.

- Experience in the application of anodizing, primer, paint, etc.

- Forklift operator experience.

- 5+ years of CNC experience.
