Responsibilities

This position is responsible for data management functions in Mercer’s HRIS for select employee groups and serves as the point person for the adjunct faculty onboarding process.  In addition, tracks departmental expenditures for the budget and reconciles multiple accounts on a regular basis. Works independently to provide strong and reliable assistance to the Associate Vice President for Human Resources in performing compliance tasks related to university policies as well as state and federal laws.  Serves as the backup to the HR Assistant and performs some administrative support tasks.  As a member of the HR team, provides general support to other Human Resource staff members on an as needed basis for special projects.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma and 5 years of related work experience, which must include some prior work experience with bookkeeping and/or maintaining detailed data, are required.  In lieu of experience, an equivalent combination of education and directly related work experience will also be considered.  A bachelor’s degree and/or prior experience in human resources or higher education is preferred. 

The successful candidate must have a comfort level with a wide range of technology with the ability to use or quickly learn Excel.  Must have the ability to multi-task, organize, prioritize and manage the workload in a very busy office while being detail-orientated and accurate in work assignments.  Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and strong interpersonal skills with ability to establish rapport with both internal and external customers while providing a high level of customer service are essential.  Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as in a team driven environment.  Additionally, the successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability for maintaining confidentiality of any and all sensitive information encountered.

Base: $34,000 annually up to commensurate with experience
