The College of Health Professions at Mercer University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in the Department of Physical Therapy. Join our team of faculty and staff to deliver an 8-semester Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program; residencies in cardiovascular and pulmonary, neurologic, and orthopaedic physical therapy; a fellowship in orthopaedic manual physical therapy; and an on-campus outpatient physical therapy clinic that serves patients from the metro Atlanta area. This position is a 12-month appointment based at Mercer University’s Cecil B. Day campus in Atlanta, Georgia, conveniently located near all the amenities of the city, yet situated on over 250 wooded acres.
Responsibilities include classroom/laboratory instruction and evaluation related to contemporary clinical practice; scholarly activities (publications, grants, presentations, and collaborative projects); advisement and mentoring of students; admissions and accreditation activities; and committee involvement. Rank will be commensurate with experience.
Qualifications include a minimum of four years’ experience as a physical therapist, a CAPTE-recognized terminal academic degree (PhD, EdD, DSc, DHS, or equivalent), and eligibility for licensure in Georgia as a physical therapist. An ideal candidate will have experience teaching, examining, and mentoring physical therapist students in academic or clinical settings, and a strong interest in and potential for externally funded research and scholarly dissemination.

The Mercer Physical Therapy clinic welcomes over 350 patients per month, providing on-campus practice and research opportunities. Our faculty, staff, and students regularly engage in interprofessional education and research with our other College programs (Physician Assistant Studies, Clinical Psychology, Public Health, Athletic Training, and Kinesiology) and with other academic units including Nursing, Pharmacy, and Medicine.
