The Center for Collaborative Journalism (CCJ) is seeking a programming specialist to create and manage web and over-the-air content for WMUB -- Mercer’s low-power television station.

The primary duties include creating original content for the station, programming the automation for existing programming and managing contract engineer services. The specialist will work with students and the CCJ media partners as part of the production process to include pitching, sourcing, managing, producing and sustaining new community programs.

The Center is a unique community media collaborative combining Mercer’s liberal arts-based journalism and media studies program with the professional expertise of local media partners that include The Telegraph, Georgia Public Broadcasting and 13WMAZ. Students study journalism and media studies but work with the partner organizations and WMUB to hone their skills and build their portfolios all four years of their college experience.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in journalism or mass communications from an accredited institution and five years of experience producing and creating television content are required. Candidates with a master's degree in film production, journalism or mass communication are preferred. Applicants should have strong writing skills in the areas of news, features, web copy and broadcast scripts. Applicants also need strong video editing skills with experience using non-linear editing software. Experience with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite and specific knowledge of Premiere, Audition and AfterEffects is preferred. Applicants should have experience working in a newsroom and producing and editing copy and video packages for television. Experience in the control room and a track record of creating and sustaining new programming is preferred. 

Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the university's carrier as this position requires travel.
