Responsibilities |
Working under the general supervision of the Area Supervisor, this position performs a broad range of building maintenance tasks for all University facilities in the areas of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, general maintenance and locksmith duties. Communicates with various faculty, staff, and students to keep them informed on repair work which impacts them. Must have good organizational skills to keep up with the heavy workload, and manage the elated paperwork. Performs other duties as assigned. The end results of this job allow the Physical Plant to provide good customer service for the campus' students, faculty, and staff, which includes helping the Physical Plant keep the campus well-maintained, safe, and comfortable.

Required Qualifications |
Requires high school diploma/GED and a minimum of two years experience working in maintenance and/or construction or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired. Vocational education is highly desirable. Candidate must possess working knowledge in the areas of electrical, carpentry, and plumbing and the skill to perform general maintenance in these trade areas. Must be able to read and understand blueprints and plans. Must be able to prepare basic estimates for maintenance and repair projects. Additionally the candidate must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation. Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills required. Candidates who are committed to continuing professional development to include work toward achievement of journeyman skill level and/or professional license are desired. Successful experience with contractors and vendors is desirable.
The successful candidate must have a valid driver's license as this position does require some travel.
