The Assistant Director oversees the daily operations of the Skelton Medical Library located on the Columbus campus. The incumbent manages the circulation desk and performs all routine tasks associated with this assignment, including knowledge of Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and Circulation systems. This position provides ready reference services to faculty, students, staff, patients and other customers and learners on campus. In addition, the position helps maintain the various print collections to support the Medical School curriculum and other learners on campus. Must deliver respectful excellence in customer service and perform other tasks that support services, maintain workload, or provide coverage in the library department. He/she works closely with the Director of the Skelton Medical Libraries located on the Macon campus, Head of Public Services located on the Macon campus, and the Associate Director located on the Savannah campus.


An ALA-accredited Master's degree in Library Science/Information Services is required along with at least three years of increasingly responsible academic library experience, with at least one year of demonstrated innovative, effective administrative leadership including supervisory responsibilities.  The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication and ability to interact effectively with diverse constituencies; strong service orientation; and familiarity with integrated library systems and discovery systems (preferably Ex Libris Alma and Primo).  Candidates with academic health sciences library experience are preferred.
