Responsibilities |
The incumbent is a licensed Journeyman Plumber and has the commensurate experience necessary to enable them to test for a Master Plumbers license and obtain the state certification for backflow preventer repair and installation in the near future. Incumbent will be involved in the maintenance, repair and installation of facility plumbing and ventilation systems along with maintenance and repair work on the campus lawn sprinkler system and campus water features and fountains. The incumbent will be expected to work independently and under indirect supervision and will be expected to handle assignments from conception through successful completion. Must have a good working knowledge and understanding of city, county and state plumbing codes and regulations. The incumbent may be assigned other duties outside their primary discipline by Physical Plant management from time-to-time. This position will report to the Superintendent of Maintenance.

Required Qualifications |
A high school diploma or GED and five years of plumbing experience working in maintenance and or construction under the direction of a Master Plumber are required. A licensed Journeyman Plumber with commensurate experience necessary to enable them to test for the Master Plumbers license and obtain state certification for backflow preventer repair and installation. Must have basic computer experience with Microsoft Office.
Candidates must have a valid driver's license and be insurable by the university's carrier as this position requires driving a university vehicle.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities |
1. Must be able to install, maintain, and repair campus facility plumbing systems, ventilation systems, and campus lawn sprinkler systems along with campus fountains and water features. 2. Must have the necessary skills and ability necessary to utilize properly all equipment associated with the plumbing construction and maintenance field. 3. Must be able to prepare and present detailed estimates for maintenance and repair assignments. The ability to review construction drawings and project specifications to help insure Mercer University is receiving the best value for dollar spent. 4.Must have a good understanding and working knowledge of city, county, state plumbing codes and regulations. 5. Must have the physical abilities to perform related duties as required with or without reasonable accommodation.
