Responsibilities

The Mercer University School of Medicine is seeking highly qualified educators with backgrounds in Biochemistry or Cell Biology at the level of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. Multiple, non-tenure track, 10-month appointments are available on the Macon, Georgia campus. Teaching faculty will play a key role in the continued development of an integrated, cross-disciplinary curriculum that includes small and large group case-based and team-based learning. The successful candidate will be expected to have a strong commitment to excellence in education, to assume primary responsibility for biochemistry or cell biology instruction in the Master of Science programs, and also to contribute to teaching in the M.D. Program. This position includes the opportunity to pursue scholarly activity in medical education.

Mercer University School of Medicine Macon campus is located one hour south of Atlanta and is a community-based medical school with approximately 350 full- and part-time teaching faculty and 240 medical students. The school’s mission is to educate physicians and health professionals to meet the primary care and health care needs of rural and medically underserved areas of Georgia.  Master of Science programs enroll approximately 50 students each fall on the Macon campus.  http://medicine.mercer.edu/

Qualifications

Candidates must:

  • Hold a terminal degree (M.D., Ph.D.) from an accredited college/university in one or more of the following disciplines:  Biochemistry, Cell Biology or a related discipline. Preference will be given to individuals with postdoctoral training and teaching experience in biochemistry.

Pay Rate

Commensurate with experience
