The Department of International and Global Studies (IGS) at Mercer University invites applications for a tenure-track Faculty position in Global Development Studies.

Duties will consist of teaching seven undergraduate courses per year. Courses within the program may include introduction to development theory, gender and development, sustainable development, and poverty alleviation. The successful candidate will be expected to help inspire and develop new experiential learning opportunities, study abroad and international service-learning experiences, undergraduate research, and to actively support college wide core programs such as the Integrative Studies series and/or Great Books.

A Ph.D. in International or Global Development, or related discipline from an accredited college/university is required. ABD candidates will be considered at the Instructor rank.  We are searching for a colleague who is broadly trained in the development field, can help cultivate student interest in this relatively new program, and is able to contribute to and help support other existing programs in the IGS department such as Global Health Studies and International Affairs. Strong preference will be given to candidates who show evidence of interdisciplinary training, success with grant writing, and whose scholarship focuses on health, environmental and/or structural aspects of development studies in the Asia, or Latin America regions. A background in liberal arts education, and membership in Phi Beta Kappa are considered added advantages. Successful candidates must show promise of excellence in teaching and scholarly activity.
