Responsibilities

We invite applications for a full-time, tenure-track position as Faculty of Art in Sculpture. The successful candidate will contribute to a growing Art Department rooted in Mercer University’s College of Liberal Arts as we prepare our students to face an ever-changing world with the  creative and critical thinking skills needed for the future.  Rank will be determined based on the credentials of the selected candidate.

Start date: August 1, 2020

Responsibilities:    

  • Teach seven undergraduate courses per academic year
  • Cover all course offerings in Sculpture and 3D design, including general education and other foundations art courses applicable to the department needs and the candidate’s skill set
  • Maintain an active exhibition and research record
  • Undergraduate student mentoring and advising, including active participation in supervising capstone projects for BA and BFA students 
  • Oversight and operation of the sculpture and ceramics labs, including but not limited to overseeing a safe working environment, managing supplies and equipment, and supervising work-study students
  • Contributions to departmental growth, such as curriculum development, recruitment, and programming
  • Committee and other service at Department, College, and/or University level 
Qualifications

Qualifications:  

  • MFA in Sculpture from an accredited college/university that is conferred by the time of appointment
  • Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduates
  • Extensive knowledge of techniques and theory relevant to sculpture and contemporary studio practice
  • Active exhibition and research record
