The Director of Athletic Media Relations is responsible for the day to day publicity for the Athletics program. Duties include providing timely news releases, updating statistical data and serving as a liaison between the school and the Southern Conference, A-Sun, NCAA and the local and national media. Other duties include the day-to-day management of the sports information office. This would include the assignment of staff for all home events and select road events, updating of website and social media, and production of media guides and game programs. This position serves as primary contact for football and baseball. The Director and his/her office will be tasked with working closely with multiple constituencies to provide technical and design support for specific athletic events.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/institution in Communications, Journalism, English or a related field is required along with one year of Sports Information or Media Relations experience.  Candidates with a master's degree are highly desirable.  The successful candidate must have: extensive desktop publishing experience with Photoshop, InDesign Word, Quark Express and similar publishing software; knowledge to run stat program for team sports; general knowledge of athletics and broad Knowledge of different sports; excellent oral and written communication skills; working knowledge of various social media platforms; knowledge of webcasting technology; and understanding of college athletic environment, including but not limited to, NCAA and conference compliance regulations.

Candidates must have a valid driver's license as some travel is required.
