37.5 a week - This position will work 10 months each year from August to May and will be off in June and July.


The person holding this position provides secretarial support for the Departments of Communications, Political Science, and Sociology, as well as the McDonald Center, the Debate Team, Mock Trial, and Law and Public Policy. Responsibilities associated with this position include (but are not limited to) ordering and managing supplies, budgeting for departments and R&D monies, tracking majors (including maintaining accurate contact information on majors and minors), serving as Building Steward, answering telephone and greeting visitors, handling requests from faculty and students, facilitating symposia planning, hiring and supervising work study students, room scheduling, assisting Chair in recruiting faculty, completing or providing forms requested by CLA Dean’s Office, and performing daily operations (copying, etc.). Operates under direct & indirect supervision for all departments.

Required Qualifications

A high school diploma or GED and at least two years of prior administrative support experience are required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook. The successful candidate will have exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required as this position will have to interact with a wide range of individuals in a professional manner, both in person and on the telephone.

Pay Rate

Base: $11.29 an hour up to commensurate with experience
