The purpose of this position is to perform a wide range of administrative and business management functions and activities for the Office of General Counsel (OGC), which has the responsibility for providing legal counsel and representation to the leadership of the University. The OGC is a dynamic work environment with a significant volume of matters involving many different areas of law. Acting under general supervision, this position serves as the point of first contact for the Office, and requires the ability to manage and prioritize workflow to allow each project to be completed in a timely and efficient manner. In carrying out the duties of the position, the incumbent must exercise the utmost discretion and preserve the confidentiality of all matters arising within the scope of the Office’s responsibility.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university is required, along with at least one year of administrative support experience. In lieu of a degree, equivalent directly related experience will be considered. Candidates with a bachelor's degree are preferred. The successful candidate must have: 1) the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; 2) good communication skills - both oral and written; 3) the ability to work independently; 4) the ability to exercise discretion when handling urgent and sensitive matters; 5) the ability to maintain confidentiality; 6) highly efficient organizational skills; and 7) be proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Candidates with prior paralegal training and/or prior legal office experience, familiarity with University organizational structure and operating procedures (specifically those at Mercer University), and/or two or more years of progressive support experience are highly desirable.
