Responsibilities

Mercer University’s Penfield College/College of Professional Advancement invites applications for Faculty of Psychology and Human Services, a nine-month, non-tenure track renewable part-time position beginning August 2019.  The position is housed in the Department of Human Services and Psychology and will be based on the Mercer Atlanta campus or at Mercer’s Henry County Regional Academic Center located in the South Metro Atlanta area with teaching assignments in Atlanta, at Mercer’s Regional Academic Centers, and online.  Primary responsibilities include: teaching 4 undergraduate psychology and/or human services courses each year, including courses in research methodology. Additional responsibilities include advising psychology and human services majors; maintaining office hours; attending departmental, some college-wide, and  one University faculty meeting; participating with the psychology and human services faculty in promoting and maintaining the department’s programs and their philosophy and mission; and working collaboratively with colleagues across academic units of the college and university.

Qualifications

A master's degree in psychology from an accredited college/university is minimally required. Applicants who have earned a Ph.D. or Psy.D. degree in psychology or human services from a regionally accredited university, are preferred. Additional preference will be given to applicants who provide evidence of exemplary teaching and who have experience teaching and advising adult learners and in online courses. Applicants with applied work experiences in social service and/or clinical settings, is preferred. Finally, preference will be given to applicants with research backgrounds. Evidence of excellence or potential for excellence in scholarship and service will be required.
