Responsibilities

The Mercer University School of Medicine is seeking a part-time (50% FTE), highly qualified educator with a passion for teaching thorough history and physical exam skills on the Macon campus.  This non-tenure track teaching position will play a key role in planning for 2nd year curriculum including all clinical skills practices, practicums and final exams, will give lectures or recruit faculty to provide overviews as directed in the curriculum and lead practice sessions.  This position will oversee and grade any written assignments and clinical investigation curriculum as well as re-mediate students as needed.  Coordination with the Director of Medical Practice and the entire Medical Practice Team on Macon and Savannah campus is key.

Qualifications

MD degree from an accredited university/college is required.  

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in health professions education and 10+ years of clinical experience
  • Experience with ultrasound and a willingness to learn point of care ultrasound as directed in the curriculum
  • Commitment to helping students refine their clinical reasoning ability and physical exam skills
  • Knowledge of computer based teaching applications (i.e. Learning Space, Canvas) and working knowledge of electronic presentation applications (i.e. PowerPoint)
  • Provide demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work with members of the academic and clinical community
  • Strong service orientation and commitment to teamwork
  • Strong organizational skills

Pay Rate

Commensurate with experience
