Penfield College, Mercer University’s evening, weekend, and online professional studies unit, invites applications for the position of Faculty of Organization Development and Coordinator for Organizational Leadership Studies programs, a nine month, non-tenure track renewable position beginning August 1 or as soon as an outstanding candidate is identified. Rank to be determined based on the credentials of the selected candidate. The position is based on Mercer’s Atlanta campus and housed in Mercer’s Department of Leadership Studies. Teaching assignments will include courses offered in Atlanta, online, and in Mercer’s Regional Academic Centers.

Primary responsibilities include teaching 5 3- credit hour courses during the academic year - four are at the graduate level; coordinating the undergraduate and graduate programs in organizational leadership; advising and mentoring students on research projects; teaching in executive leadership training programs; collaborating with the enrollment management team; maintaining a strong presence on Mercer’s Atlanta campus and at Mercer’s Regional Academic Centers; engaging in scholarly research for presentation and publication; attending departmental, college, and university faculty meetings and events; and working collaboratively with colleagues across academic units of the college and university to ensure outstanding learning environments and contributions to the University’s mission.


A doctoral degree in a related field from an accredited college/university is required.  Applicants must provide evidence of exemplary teaching and evidence of experience in research methodology and scholarly writing, program evaluation, and statistical analysis. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience teaching and advising adult learners and who have experience in or enthusiasm for teaching using engaging online and hybrid formats.   Preference will be given to candidates with academic credentials or experience in one of the following areas: organizational theory, organizational behavior, organizational communication, organizational development, leadership in healthcare organizations, leadership in information technology, criminal justice/homeland security leadership, or leadership in human resource development to include training. Interest in global outreach and study abroad is a plus.  Professional accomplishments that demonstrate creativity and energy, self-direction, and the ability to work with a highly motivated team are important attributes of the successful candidate.
