Responsibilities

The Mercer University School of Engineering (MUSE) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor position in Electrical Engineering, starting August 2019. Candidates with expertise, scholarly interest, and an excellent capacity for teaching and research at undergraduate and graduate levels in areas such as controls, power, digital and embedded systems, and radar are of particular interest.

Mercer’s undergraduate engineering program is ABET/EAC accredited. The School of Engineering offers both Bachelor and Master of Science in Engineering degrees with specializations in biomedical, civil, computer, electrical, environmental, industrial, and mechanical as well as engineering related programs in technical communications and industrial management. The undergraduate curriculum is dynamic, innovative, broadly based, and includes the option of an integrated BSE/MSE degree program for qualified candidates. Total engineering enrollment is over 750 students.

Mercer University is a private and comprehensive university and includes the Mercer Engineering Research Center in nearby Warner Robins, GA. The metropolitan Macon area, located 90 miles south of Atlanta, has a population of 250,000 and enjoys a four-season climate and a wealth of nearby historic, cultural, and recreational attractions.

Qualifications

An earned Ph.D. from an accredited college/university in electrical or computer engineering or a closely related field is required. Those with industry experience and/or professional registration are strongly encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will be an effective communicator with a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, service, and scholarship focused on support of the institution’s educational mission. Mercer Engineering uses a core curriculum model,  In addition to courses in his or her area, this faculty member will teach some fundamental engineering courses such as circuits, electronics, basic power, microprocessors and digital logic, computer organization, signals and systems, and laboratory courses.
