Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Digital Content Specialist position is to develop and maintain various written and multimedia content for major administrative and academic unit websites to achieve marketing, communications and branding objectives of Mercer University. Projects often require coordination with individuals outside of the department and teamwork within the department. Tasks are assigned by and coordinated with the Director of Digital Communications, but the Digital Content Specialist acts independently to complete them.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college/university is required, along with two years of writing experience with a marketing voice.  In lieu of a degree, an equivalent combination of directly related education and/or experience will be considered.  Candidates who have an understanding and familiarity with Mercer University, including the University‚Äôs branding and marketing standards and/or prior experience working in an academic environment are highly desirable. 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

Successful candidates should have:

-Excellent writing skills to craft engaging and relevant content pertaining to the University
-Basic technical knowledge of Wordpress and HTML to publish and edit content online
-Basic understanding of design methodology (typography, color, etc.) to create easy to read web pages
-Knowledge of SEO and web traffic metrics to strategically create content for Search Engine Optimization
