Serve as the primary media contact for sports as assigned by director, including but not limited to women’s basketball, softball and men’s soccer. Travel is expected with women’s basketball (part-time travel with softball). Experience with lacrosse is a bonus. Will promote assigned sports with writing, social media, design, editing press releases, game programs, game notes, media guides and other publications as assigned. Communicate story ideas to local, regional and national media outlets. Will direct or assist the direction of press row and game day media activities at various events. Will work closely with marketing, creative and video departments to utilize social media in promotion of Mercer athletics.

Required Qualifications

A bachelor's degree (preferably in Journalism, English, Communications or closely-related field) from an accredited college/university and some prior experience in the field of professional or collegiate athletic communications are required.  Must have knowledge of StatCrew software and Adobe Creative Cloud programs.  The successful candidate will possess excellent writing skills and a working knowledge of multiple social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and more.
