Responsibilities

The Director of Career Services bears the primarily responsibility for (a) assisting in the planning and coordinating of all educational programming provided to students on career planning, job searching techniques, and professionalism; (b) overseeing all career fair and outside interviewing programs; and (c) overseeing all Career Services operations in the Assistant Dean’s absence. The Director also (a) provides individualized counseling to students and alumni on career goals and job search strategies; (b) conducts outreach to recruit employers and job postings; (c) manages the on-campus recruitment program; (d) compiles, maintains and reports statistical career related data; and (e) develops and maintains content and format of Career Services’ publications and website. This position supports Mercer’s commitment to service philosophy of consistent, respectful, and reasonable attention to the clients, who include prospective students, current students, graduates, employers, and the legal community generally.

Required Qualifications
A J.D. degree from an accredited university/college is required. Demonstrated professional experience in a legal setting is highly desirable as well as previous counseling experience. Knowledge of the legal job market and related job search resources including research skills, both internet and otherwise, in the areas of career development and job searches. Required to assist students and alumni with their job searches and networking. Must have the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with employers, parents, students, university faculty and staff.
